Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt was fun to retaste this wine after Decanter Magazine placed it tenth on its list of the Most Exciting Wines of 2018. This is an orange wine with all the savoury, nutty, oiliness that goes with extended skin contact wines. It’s fermented using native yeast in stainless steel, where it remained on the skins for nine months before being pressed and left to rest for two months prior to bottling. The nose and palate is now full-blown medicinal orange, with hoppy tangerines skin notes throughout its cloudy, textured juice. Fully mature now and just putting on weight. This is an orange wine (skin contact white) from Summerland's Waters & Banks Vineyard, fermented native in stainless, where it remained on the skins for nine months before being pressed and left to rest for two months prior to bottling. Medicinal orange, tangerine, hops, white cherry are expressed along the textural and grippy palate, tied with herbal citrus oils and lingering with ample spices, flake salts. Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPiercing apricot pith, peach pit, orange oil and grapefruit in this Free Form natural orange wine from Haywire. Though the palate is ripe downy pear and lees-clad, the finish is bitter sharp with medicinal / herbal citrus oils and resin. A more extreme version than previous vintages that will takes some getting used to. The fruit is from Summerland's Waters & Banks Vineyard, fermented using native yeast in stainless steel tanks where it aged on skins for nine months.
