Bartier Bros. Syrah Cerqueira Vineyard 2015
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt’s warm on the Black Sage Gravel Bar most years, but winemaker Michael Bartier seems to be able to extract the floral, fragrant notes from his syrah. Notes of spice and black pepper permeate the palate of the rich, fruity red. Ripe black cherries, pipe tobacco and a twist of savoury cocoa linger throughout the stony, mineral finish. The grapes were destemmed and lightly crushed directly into French barrels and macerated over 36 days, rolled to twice a day. After being pressed off, it's aged for another 14 months in neutral French barrels. Roasted meats or wild fowl are the match here.Tasted: 11 October 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $23.39 | 750ml | winery direct, private wine shops |
