Poet's Leap Riesling 2015
Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThe Long Shadow is German Armin Diel, whose family has owned the celebrated estate of Schlossgut Diel, in Burg Layen, in the Nahe River Valley since 1802. The facilitator is the patient LS winemaker Gilles Nicault. Despite a super warm year, this has still yielded fresh and lively Poet’s Leap character, rich with peach and kumquat flavors, bits of minerality and wet stones and only 1.23 percent residual sugar. Clearly some impressive viticulture is taking place in Eastern Washington. The 2015 blend is a mix of Columbia Valley vineyards, of which roughly half is from German clones planted in the Horse Heaven Hills high above the Columbia River. How good could this be under screwcap versus its natural cork closure? 4,490 cases produced.Tasted: 06 July 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $35.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Mark Anthony Brands |
