Rodney Strong Sauvignon Blanc Charlotte's Home 2015
Northern Sonoma, Sonoma County, California, United StatesRodney Strong established the winery’s heritage sauvignon blanc vineyard in 1971, naming it Charlotte’s Home in honor of his wife. The same site remains the core of today’s Charlotte’s Home Sauvignon Blanc, along with select estate vineyards in the Alexander, Russian River and Dry Creek valleys. It was warm in 2015 and not easy to produce a fresh sauvignon. The warm Alexander Valley fruit is the base of the blend, the Dry Creek brings honeydew and tropical fruit notes while the super-cooled Russian River Valley is the citrus injection required to freshen the finish. Perfect for soft cheese salads, or pasta dishes or any number of vegetarian dishes. The ferment is 90/10 cold fermented in stainless steel tanks with no malolactic versus 10% barrel fermented in French oak barrels with full malolactic. A ripe but perfectly acceptable style, especially for those who think the New Zealand style is too aggressive.Tasted: 09 January 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $19.99 | 750ml | private wine shops |
