Monte Creek Ranch Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWith 85 percent cabernet sauvignon it just makes the varietal line adding 14 percent merlot and one percent cabernet franc. The fruit is selection of the winery’s “best batches.” All was aged in oak for 16 months. It was a warm year in the Okanagan, one of the rare years you can achieve phenolic ripeness in cabernet sauvignon, giving this wine a better start. The nose is a mix of savoury licorice and leather with bits of orange peel and cedar. The attack is medium weight with firm dry tannins, plenty of oak, coffee and spice, with a persistent burn in the warm finish. Not one to age but it needs another year in the bottle. Best with beef. Expensive for what it is.Tasted: 09 December 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
