Painted Rock Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2013 follows up on the very good 2012 and it tops it in our estimation finally bringing some finesse to the mix at Painted Rock. Ripe and juicy are not words one usually associates with local cabernet sauvignon but this 2013 reminds us of both descriptors from front to back. The juicy, balanced soft textures make it a lot easier to embrace the black currant fruit and complex tobacco flavours that no longer disappear into a pool of resin and oak. Rather there are light tannins but no obvious oak allowing the acidity and the fruit to persist for a long finish. Well done and proof we can abandon the Bordeaux recipe for something we can call the Okanagan.Tasted: 18 April 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $34.69 | 750ml | winery direct, private wine shops |
