Concha y Toro Carmin de Puemo Carmenere 2012

Puemo, Valle del Cachapoal, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileCarmín is a blend of vineyards blocks from Peumo Vineyard in the Cachapoal mix in with small amounts of cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. The wine is aged in 100 percent new, medium toasted French oak for 20 months and then spends a minimum 12 additional months in bottle prior to release. Like the 2011 the 2012 is opaque in colour but with a floral, mineral, black fruit nose flecked with tobacco, cassis and pencil lead. The attack follows the same path with rich textures and savoury, plummy chocolate fruit with a ’boldo’ undercurrent. Power and elegance with a long complex finish. Impressive again and again. Lamb is the pairing. Lay away a decade for a serious wine.Tasted: 27 July 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
