Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional 2010

Douro Superior, Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalAt Crasto the dry red Touriga Nacional (100 per cent) is only released in exceptional years from vines now over 25 years old. The colour is inky black the nose and palate boasting intense dark fruits, liquorice and spice with plenty of youthful oak about. The grapes are grown on schist and you can feel the mineral stony undercurrent in this wine. Interestingly the fermentation is done in open temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for one week before the wine goes into new French oak barrels. Limited supply has made this a bit of a cult wine in Portugal and around the world with tiny amounts going to any one country. Made by foot and hand. You can cellar this for a decade with ease.Tasted: 08 March 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
