Mazzei Badiola 2011
Tuscany, ItalyBadiola is born after Castello Fonterutoli and Fonterutoli. The plate is fresh and leans toward the red fruit, fragrant sangiovese style flecked with tobacco, leather and spice aromas. The attack is Italian dry, but round and soft on entry with black cherry, cassis, liquorice and coffee flavours. It is aged in American oak barrels that gives it an open friendly style for early drinking. Pizza, sushi, grilled meats all work here. The 2011 mix is 70/30 sangiovese/merlot selected from five different sites of mixed sandstone and limestone ranging from 220 - 510 metres above sea level.Tasted: 04 February 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $20.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Renaissance Wine Merchants |
