Mazzei Badiola 2007

Tuscany, ItalyBadiola (vineyard) is a 70/30 blend of sangiovese and merlot that spends about nine months in barriques. Look for the classic earthy mushroom Tuscan nose with a small floral component, pepper, tobacco and cherry aromas. The palate is resoundingly dry and fresh with meaty peppery, licorice root flavours with sour cherries and more tobacco leaf flavours. This is a food wine in the good sense. Try with a mushroom dish or spaghetti Bolognese. Would love to see the artificial cork disappear.Tasted: 29 March 2010Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
