Warre's Vintage Port 2011

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalQuinta da Cavadinha (cool) and Quinta do Retiro Antigo (old vines) are the backbone of Warre's Vintage Port bringing elegance and aromatics to the blend. The 2011 also boasts about 20 percent fruit (opulence) from Quinta da Telhada. The blend is 40 percent very old mixed vines, 37 percent Touriga Nacional and 23 percent Touriga Franca. Expect an intense port with big floral black pepper, black licorice, black tea, spicy nose flecked with tobacco, dark plum and dark chocolate. Rich, full, concentrated and sweet the palate is juicy with both tannic structure and elegance. More huge black liquorice, black pepper, black cherry jam, tea, savoury, slate, walnut and dried fig flavours. Excellent intensity, structure and length for aging yet has silky finesse and freshness. Impressive. 36,000 bottles. Cask sample bottled April 2013Tasted: 01 May 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
