Graham's Vintage Port 2011

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, Portugalthe Quinta dos Malvedos is the lead estate in the wine and has been since 1890. In 2011 it makes up 35% of the final blend (floral/eucalyptus). Quinta do Tua, (concentration) is 16% of the blend, Quinta da Vila Velha 18% (black chocolate), Quinta das Lages 12% (complexity) and finally Quinta do Vale de Malhadas at 19% from the Douro Superior brings tannin and coffee flavours. The final blend by varietal is 40% Touriga Nacional, 31% Touriga Franca, 23% Vinha Velha (old mixed vineyards), and 6% Sousão. Look for an aromatic nose with floral, liquorice, black cherry, savoury, plum, chocolate, lavender, dried fig and tobacco aromas. Full, rich, round but with refined tannic structure, excellent acidity and the usual sweet palate. Intense black cherry, dark plum, black liquorice, black pepper, savoury, fig pudding flavours.
