Viader Vineyards Proprietary Red Wine 1997
Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe 1997 is showing well, perhaps reaching its zenith now or over the next two years. Love the mature nose offering complex notes of spice and fruit flecked with liquorice and tobacco and cedar. The texture and weight are gorgeous but again in that graceful, elegant Viader style. Who knew Howell Mountain could be so refined. You will love the plummy dark fruit characters with some fresh acidity still holding on to the underside. A large wine with a big future. Served with house made cotechino ravioli, puree of green lentils, crispy pig ears, shaved cauliflower and herb salad Reggiano.Tasted: 22 April 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:US | $87.00 | 750ml | average retail |
