Tenuta Luce della Vite 2009
Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyAt 350 to 420 metres the Luce estate is among Montalcino 's highest. The sangiovese likes the heights while the merlot is better placed in the clays at the lowest elevations. The 09 blend is 45/55 mix of sangiovese and merlot producing a low 32 hl/ha all age in new French oak. The nose is a classy aromatic mix of cedar, black berry, black cherry, savoury blueberry and pepper notes. The attack is rich, soft and generous with chocolate, tobacco, black berry, savoury, black plum flavours. A bit like the '09 Lucente this is more New World this year.
