John Duval Plexus 2007
Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThe '07 Plexus red is a bit more rugged than its stylish '06 showing more resin and liquorice fruit with a fairly, savoury almost leafy forest floor flavour on the mid-palate. There is plenty of bright acidity that works well with the fruit to keep the wine fresh and focused on the palate Only 10 percent of the wood, all French, is new, which is in keeping with winemaker John Duval's preference for the red fruit flavours whenever possible. Duval prefers the SGM blend to the GSM thus Plexus Red because it is less confected by the grenache fruit thus the blend is a 50/30/20 mix of shiraz grenache and mourvèdre with the latter two grapes coming off old bush vines.Tasted: 20 September 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $50.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Vintage West Marketing |
