John Duval Plexus 2006
Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaDuval prefers the SGM blend to the GSM thus Plexus Red because it is less confected by the grenache fruit thus the blend is a 50/30/20 mix of shiraz grenache and mourvèdre with the latter two grapes coming off old bush vines. The shiraz provides a rich blackberry backbone and now a few years down the road a wonderful open aroma of rich black fruits and spice all with a savoury edge. The grenache is old as is the mataro but the fruit is clean and rich. A delicious style with a warm milk chocolate undercurrent it perfectly illustrates what was a lovely warm vintage with a dry summer.Tasted: 20 September 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $50.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Vintage West Marketing |
