Mission Hill Family Estate Oculus 2005

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe latest Oculus continues down the path of richer, softer textures while eliminating almost all green aspects. We like the '05 and its spicy, peppery, chocolate nose laced with vanilla, black olive, tobacco leaf, coriander, cassis and cherry aromas. The palate is dry and elegant, and yes young and tight but in time this will dissipate. More cedar, tobacco leaf, cassis, orange peel, vanilla, coffee, green olive and licorice flavours mark the palate with a bit of cardamom and coriander on the finish. There is fine finesse in what is the best Oculus yet. Cellar for 3-5 years and beyond for best results.Tasted: 16 September 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
