Mission Hill Family Estate Oculus 2001

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaBig cassis, black pepper and spicy, saddle leather notes mix with tobacco, orange rind and vanilla pudding aromas. This is a rich, warm, youthful tannic red that will need time to blend its substantial cassis, olive, pepper, orange rind and herbal/leaf flavours. The style is lean and reserved but we know it will grow in the bottle much like the 2001 a wine whose mark we have recently upgraded based on its showing with an additional year in bottle. It was the first vintage with petit verdot added. The blend is 45/35/15/5 merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, petit verdot; 16 months in 80 percent new French oak: 92 percent Osoyoos fruit, 8 percent Oliver.Tasted: 28 August 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
