Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino 2003

Tuscany, ItalyCastelgiocondo is a big estate with 152ha. planted to the Brunello clone. Peppery, spicy, smoky, ash, meaty, floral tobacco nose with bits of black cherry, licorice root aromas and a touch of resin and animal. Dry, warm, round, tannic but not overly astringent. Black cherry jam, peppery, orange peel, smoky resin, bay leaf, spicy, vanilla, waxy flavours. Tight finish with good acidity if a bit hot. Good fruit throughout. It's young and a bit rustic but with good intensity to drink over the next 3-7 years.Tasted: 14 November 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
