Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino 2008

Tuscany, ItalyOpen inviting fragrant nose. A smaller crop and a warm fall overcame a difficult year. The '08 Castelgiocondo is delicious balanced and near ready to drink. Look for ripe plums and floral notes throughout with juicy, liquorice, black cherry, coffee and dark chocolate flavours all with a savoury undercurrent - classic Castelgiocondo. Stews, braised meats and aged cheeses are the match. Castelgiocondo is sits between southwest-facing, well drain spoils from 250-450 m. The wine is aged in a mix of Slavonian oak casks and French oak barrels for a minimum two years followed by four months in the bottle. Tasted twice now in the last four months and showing better than ever.Tasted: 07 March 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
