Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 1997
Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe reserve cabernet is ultimately a blend of the best lots winemaker Rick Sayre has to work with. The blend is mostly cabernet sauvignon (81%) with 11 per cent merlot and eight per cent cabernet franc. Black fruits and mocha toffee flavours are set off by just the right amount of vanilla bean. Quite long and persistent in the mouth with a full and round finish of blackberry, hazelnut and black pepper. Excellent quality and should hold well for a decade.
