Clos du Soleil Estate Reserve Red 2021
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Estate Reserve is the winery's flagship red and ranks among the leading Similkameen Valley labels. The fruit comes from four estate vineyards, and the final blend is a barrel selection of the best lots. The '21 blend is 34/23/21/11/11 merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, malbec and petit verdot. It is all fermented in concrete before ageing in French oak for 18 months. There is a beautiful wild fragrance here, and with a substantial reduction in cabernet sauvignon from the previous vintage, the wine is already singing in the glass. Plums and wild black fruits, dusted with desert scrub and minerality, create a long, complex wine that will age forever.
