Clos du Soleil Estate Reserve Red 2021
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaClos du Soleil's top red comes from 4 Similkameen estate vineyards and is a barrel selection, in 2021 led by merlot (34%), with cabernet franc (23%), cabernet sauvignon (21%), malbec (11%), and petit verdot (11%) filling up the rest. Each was destemmed, crushed, and native fermented separately in concrete before moving to French barrels for 18 months' rest. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Fragrant dusky plum, thorny wild blackberry, and cassis is layered with smoked stone and toasted spice, with long, well-integrated tannins structuring the medium+ body.
