Penfolds Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 407 2023

South Australia, AustraliaBin 407 benefits from the reputation of 707 Penfolds' premium cabernet sauvignon, but it stands confidently on its own as an excellent red wine. The fruit is sourced broadly, a Penfolds hallmark, and in 2023, the main regions include Padthaway, Coonawarra, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, and Wrattonbully. The nose remains reserved, offering hints of licorice, cassis, and graphite, with subtle streaks of soy and dark chocolate. The palate reflects this, with more oak than fruit at present. It will need more time to soften and reveal its true character, which it always does eventually. I suggest cellaring this wine now and revisiting it around 2030. If you choose to drink it sooner, consider pairing it with a grilled steak in a mushroom-pepper sauce.Tasted: 19 February 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
