Penfolds Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 407 2004
South Australia, AustraliaUnlike its cousin 707, which Peter Gago describes as "not really cabernet, it's 707," 407 is a varietally expressive as cabernet sauvignon. The fruit taken from McLaren Vale, Padthaway, Coonawarra, Bordertown and Langhorne Creek blended in one (15 per cent), two and three year-old French and American oak. The '04 shows the cedar and mint but it has better density than previous '03 edition. The fruit is fragrant with black olive, black currant and coffee flavours. A firm, mouth-filling cabernet with poise that will be drinkable as early as '08-'09.Tasted: 20 August 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $36.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
