Penfolds Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 407 1997
South Australia, AustraliaAt Penfolds the 407 has mandate - it must be an Australian cabernet. It's a blend of different South Australia fruit although the biggest bits are from the McLaren Vale and Bordertown districts. The '97 sports coffee, minty aromas with smoke and spice in the background. The flavour is mostly black currant jam with vanilla from the mix of 50/50 French and American oak (the most French oak yet and according to red group winemaker Peter Taylor there will be more French oak in subsequent vintages.Tasted: 01 March 2000Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $32.65 | 750ml | Specialty |
