Blue Mountain Reserve Brut R.D. Méthode Traditionelle 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWhat I like most about Blue Mountain's sparkling program is that it continues to evolve, and by that I mean each of the labels is settling into its own identity, offering a different picture than its siblings. Case in point is the latest R.D. 2016 Reserve Brut. The 2015 vintage was never made, but the '16 more than makes up for it. The Brut Reserve is a weightier, fuller production, with generous lemons, hazelnuts, and honey that run through the entire wine, mixing with red apples, leesy, warm brioche, and creamy textures born of spending 84 months on the lees. The dosage at disgorging was 4 g/L, which disappears into the freshness and the vibrancy of the acidity. A true Canadian sparkling wine value selling at $44.
