Blue Mountain Reserve Brut R.D. Méthode Traditionelle 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIf you don't pay strict attention to the wine you drink, you may be unaware of one of the best characteristics of any wine, and that is consistency. Blue Mountain sparklers can be many things, but their best attribute may be their ability to be consistently good year in and year out. The Reserve Brut 2014 R.D. is estate grown, hand harvested, and all first press juice kept separate by variety. After the first fermentation, the wines were blended, yeasted, and bottled in the spring of 2015. After that, the wine sits sur lie for 7½ years. It was disgorged in August 2022 and finished dry. It then gets another year to unwind in the bottle before being released. The nose is an enticing autolytic affair of nutty oatmeal and strawberry. There is a refreshing citrus undercurrent and a full flavoured long finish that is almost elegant. It's a wine for BC gastronomy, for sure. It is fully ready to drink.Tasted: 11 October 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
