Blue Mountain Reserve Brut R.D. Méthode Traditionelle 2013
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada2013 saw a ten percent drop in chardonnay to 55 percent chardonnay while the pinot noir jumped up to 45 percent. Like the Blanc de Blancs, it spends 7.5 years on its lees and is released 12 months after disgorging. This excellent wine opens with a mix of red fruits and citrus with a strong mealy undercurrent and a nutty aftertaste. Not as elegant as the Blanc de Blanc, but it comes with a fullness on the palate and a wonderful reductive autolytic scent. You can drink this now and pair it with a wider variety of foods. I love that the winery extends so much care to its R.D. lineup and wish other BC producers would consider similar ageing options for their best sparklers.Tasted: 30 October 2022Tasted by: Prices:

Blue Mountain Reserve Brut R.D. Méthode Traditionelle 2013
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA blend of 55 percent chardonnay and 45 percent pinot noir, Blue Mountain's 2013 Reserve Brut spent 7.5 years on lees before being disgorged in August 2021, and finished in an Extra Brut style with 4 g/L residual sugar. There's a remarkable freshness to the fruit, showing a combination of green apple and lemon, that's intertwined with yogurt, spiced nuts, and beautiful toasty notes. What really stands out is the palate: finessed, concentrated, and textured, with a fine, soft mousse and chalky undercurrent that carries the finish. A beautiful expression of the Okanagan.Tasted: 12 November 2022Tasted by: Prices:

Blue Mountain Reserve Brut R.D. Méthode Traditionelle 2013
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis late disgorged Reserve Brut from Blue Mountain opens with quite an expressive nose of caramelized apple, cheese rind, and toasted nuts layered with a subtle hint of orange peel and chalky minerality. The savoury autolytic characters are even greater on the palate mingled with pear skin and spices. Only 4g/L dosage, but it feels sweeter, round, and creamy, thanks to the seven and a half years of lees ageing. It shows great integration coming from the further 12 months of bottle ageing. Highly recommended.Tasted: 26 November 2022Tasted by: Prices:
