Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaThe white label classic Unsworth Pinot Gris sources fruit from various vineyards in the Cowichan Valley, utilizing clones 52 and 52. Primarily fermented in stainless, with 10% in neutral French oak, this rested 4 months on fine lees before bottling. Tart and crisp, with green apple, Asian pear, and pear blossoms buzzing along a stony base, and finishing with a spray of salinity. This slight 12% white is well suited to coastal shellfish.Tasted: 27 April 2026Tasted by: Prices:
Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaUnsworth winemaker Dan Wright is known for his style, mainly pure and precise, and this pinot gris is a fine example. Pinot gris is the most widely planted white grape on Vancouver Island. It is all grown over a mix of marine silts and loams. The region was spared the great freeze of 2024 that devastated the Okanagan Valley crop. In the glass, it has a subtle yet expressive nose of pear, citrus, and minerals. The palate is marked by a lean, crisp character, offering crunchy textures and a distinctive sea air finish, a nod to the Island's coastal influence. This fresh profile makes it an ideal companion for oysters.Tasted: 28 July 2025Tasted by: Prices:
