Ogier Clos de L'Oratoire des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2021
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes comes from a 25 hectare vineyard which offers a balance between the three great soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape: Galets Roulés, Safres, and Eclats Calcaires. Based on grenache, this label (unchanged since 1926!) has syrah, cinsault, and mourvèdre playing supportive roles. Sultry raspberry, sun ripened strawberry fill a surprisingly soft palate, with sticky but well-integrated tannins providing the framework to the stony, cherry, garrigue-kissed core. I'm not used to called CdP graceful, but this bottle is certainly that. Drinking well now, and after a few days open it impressed even more.Tasted: 16 May 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $52.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
