Ogier Clos de L'Oratoire des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2009
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceOgier makes more of restrained style of Châteauneuf-du Pape with fresh clean fruit as the hallmark. In the case of the 09 you can smell the strawberry/raspberry fruit with a touch of confiture flecked with liquorice, pepper and those pesky garrigue notes. The attack is supple with well-managed, soft tannins and plenty of ripe orange, raspberry, black cherry fruit with a stony mineral undercurrent that balances off the fruity notes. You can drink this now with lamb chops or cellar a decade. Well done.Tasted: 18 January 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $50.00 | 750ml | |
