Mayhem Cabernet Merlot 2023
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaDespite lower yields than previous vintages, the fruit quality here was consistently high. This wine is a blend of 79% merlot and 21% cabernet franc, hand picked from three South Okanagan vineyards: Anarchist Mountain Vineyard; Pheasant Run Vineyard; and Ryegrass Road Vineyard. Each lot was harvested and fermented separately before aging 11 months in French oak barrels. The palate shows notes of fresh red berries with a savoury swirl of South Okanagan garrigue. The tannins are soft, with a dry finish that includes sage and spice. Burgers, ribs, or a meaty spaghetti sauce all work here.
