Bordeaux, FranceDirector of Wines Jerome Aquirre has done a great job upgrading this old brand in the vineyard and the bottle. The ‘22 is especially attractive for the price and is undoubtedly one of the best red blends in the market under $20. The blend is merlot primarily, with small amounts of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, mixing cedar and red fruit that spill onto the palate. It has both weight and density that takes you through a long, polished finish with more red and black fruit lined with damp earth and dried spices. It is a perfect introductory look at Bordeaux made by people who care. The tannins are soft, and the wine is ready to drink with any number of dishes, such as beef tartare, barbecue chicken, or a favourite young soft cheese.
