Stags' Leap Petite Sirah 2018

Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe SL Petite Sirah comes off a handful of ancient estate vines and additional portions from other sites in the north and south of Napa Valley. It is classically rich and complex, with black pepper, spicy black raspberries, and a streak of bitter, dark chocolate. The acidity is surprisingly fresh, and the textures are silky smooth. This is built to age, but those traits are hard to resist, even at this young stage. This is a first class Napa red that will cellar with ease for more than a decade. The wine goes through a relatively short maceration and fermentation period, with a couple of lots being co-fermented with viognier to reinforce the floral notes. It is aged 12 months in American oak barrels (25% new).Tasted: 23 May 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
