Spier Seaward Chenin Blanc 2022
Coastal Region, South AfricaWith fruit from the Tygerberg Hills and Stellenbosch, chilled by the proximity to the Atlantic, this chenin had 4 hours skin contact before an overnight settling and fermentation in 300L and 400L French oak barrels, where it rested for ten months (10% new). The wood gives a subtly creamy, toasty lees bed for the ripe pear, white peach on the medium palate, one kissed with gentle spicing which remains on the warming finish. A big improvement from the last time I tasted this a couple of years ago, and a smart, fresh choice for richer shellfish / green risotto now.Tasted: 13 April 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $22.50 | 750ml | private wine stores |
