Giovanni Rosso Langhe Nebbiolo 2021

Piedmont, ItalyBurgundy-trained winemaker Davide Rosso leads his family’s winery, based in Serralunga d’Alba. The plots are farmed organically and biodynamically, with minimal intervention in the cellar. This nebbiolo comes from the same vineyards used for their flagship Barolo, and vines planted from 1984 – 2008. It was native fermented in cement, and then aged in 50hl French casks for a few months until bottling, without filtration. Langhe Nebbiolo is such a joy to drink that it's become my go-to red, and this 2021 is a perfect example why. Crushed florals, wild raspberry, scrubby thorns is dusted with pink peppercorn, and framed by fine, firm tannins, guiding this finessed, lighter red to a taut, saline finish. Structure + lightness of being + drinkability now = success.Tasted: 25 February 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
