Famille Perrin Gigondas La Gille 2019

Côtes du Rhône, Rhone Valley, FranceThe Famille Perrin La Gille Vineyard is located mid-hill among Gigondas's most historic vineyards. The vines stand over limestone, calcareous marl, and sandy soils, giving the grenache immense finesse and elegance, with plenty of spice and classic garrigue aromas. Some of the oldest plots of grenache planted on the sand are pre-phylloxera vines. Typical for Gigondas, the 60/40 mix of grenache / syrah delivers a full bodied red, but the finesse attracts me to this wine. Round, ripe, sweet black fruit dances across the palate, filling all parts. Be careful though, as this bottle slides down too easily, but it could remain in the cellar for a decade. The wine is aged for 12 months in large oak foudres.Tasted: 15 December 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
