Bachelder Wismer-Parke Pinot Noir 2021

Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThis pinot was planted in 1999 (clones 115 and 667) to Wismer-Parke's reddish magnesium oxide rich silts, clays, and limestone, facing north on a slight downhill slope. After a native ferment, this rested 20 months in lightly used and neutral Burgundian barrels. Alluring wild raspberry, forest floor, red florals, and smouldering smoked stone / ferrous notes course throughout this darker shaded pinot, all buoyed by an easy lifted acidity, and shaped by long, suave tannins. The finish lingers with crushed pink peppercorns and more red florals. A very elegant example, and one ready for your top truffled risotto / duck breast.Tasted: 15 December 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
