Bachelder Wild West End Pinot Noir 2021

Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThis comes from the far wild west end of Wismer-Parke vineyard, in Niagara's Twenty Mile Bench. Still from the same reddish magnesium-oxide clay soils with a solid silt and dolomitic limestone component as the Wismer-Parke Pinot, this was planted in 1999 to a mystery clone. It was native fermented before resting 20 months in 2nd, 3rd, and neutral Burgundian barrels. Crushed leaves, forest floor, fresh and dried cherries, fragrant raspberry, is woven with smouldering ferrous notes, and framed with downy soft tannins through a lingering sarsaparilla / black peppercorn finish. A sultry, savoury viewpoint of Wismer-Parke.Tasted: 15 December 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
