Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard White Stones Vino de Parcela Chardonnay 2021

Gualtallary, Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaCatena bottles two vino de parcela chardonnays from Adrianna Vineyard, located at 1450m elevation in the renowned district of Gualtallary in the Uco Valley. Together, they represent some of the leading chardonnays from Mendoza. White Stones comes from 27 rows in Block 1 of Adrianna Vineyard, which has alluvial soils laden with, you guessed it, white stones. This has a slow fermentation lasting up to 95 days in French oak barriques, where the wine rests for 12-16 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. It's a remarkably restrained, elegant chardonnay that offers chiseled lemon and Anjou pear, lifted by delicate orange blossom. The wood beautifully frames the fruit, with a hint of lees in the background. It's impeccably balanced, with a vervy freshness and stony texture that leads to a long, saline finish. A remarkable wine and highly recommended.Tasted: 13 October 2023Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
