Established in 1973 by acclaimed Italian film producer Italo Zingarelli, Rocca delle Macìe totals 600 hectares (1,500 acres) across six estates in Tuscany, and today under the watchful eye of Sergio Zingarelli and family. The Classico gets 12-14 days of maceration with frequent pumping over to extract colour. 2020 is well structured with dense black cherry, soft tannins, and a hint of the forest floor. Tuscany, ItalyRocca delle Macìe was founded in 1973 by legendary film producer Italo Zingarelli. His impressive film career allowed him to fulfill his dream to produce wine. His son, Sergio, oversees the operations today. This sangiovese is tipped with 5% merlot sourced from their 4 estates in Castellina in Chianti. After primary fermentation in stainless, and MLF in concrete, this rested in large Slavonian oak for 6-10 months. Ripe and cushy up front, with sun dried cherries, crushed florals, worked leather, dried mint, fresh parsley across a fleshy palate, with bitter cherry tannins drying up the kirsch stained finish.
