Drouhin Vaudon Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2020

Chablis, Burgundy, FranceVeronique Drouhin thinks Les Clos is the cru "most able to express what the terroir of Chablis is like." The colour is pale yellow/gold with floral lily aromas brushed with citrus-soaked honey. The attack is surprisingly rich for Chablis, with more pear, floral, citrus, green apple, honey, and seashell notes, all with amazing finesse and complexity that persists long into the finish. 2020 is more approachable, and you should drink now through 2026. Les Clos is easily one of Chablis's most famous Grand Cru sites, between Valmur on the left and Blanchot on the right. Its southwest exposure is responsible for always generous and powerful character. Les Clos, or the surrounding wall built to fence off the parcel, is no longer in existence, but the vineyard was resuscitated in the 1960s by Robert Drouhin. The magic of Les Clos is the Kimmeridgian limestone soil that contains millions of tiny marine fossils embedded in a kind of whitish mortar once the sea bottom hundreds of million years ago. The Drouhin site is 1.3 ha, and the vines average 37 years of age. Its been under organic cultivation since 1990 and biodynamic cultivation since 1999. This is aged in used French oak barrels for about a year.Tasted: 26 February 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
