Da Silva Legado Pinot Noir 2019

Penticton Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom two sites near Penticton, the home Blenheim Hill site and the Marchand's Lazy Dog Vineyard, this aged in an equal split of French and Hungarian oak. The colour is Richard da Silva dark, as in Côte de Nuits, but worry not, the wine has a sense of elegance. The fruit is pinot sweet and spicy but with a nice twist of dried herbs and spices to keep it all balanced. There is no shortage of oak poking through, but for New World pinot noir drinkers, the density and weight work well. It is somewhat idiosyncratic, like the winemaker, but a lot of fun to drink. For now, duck, mushroom, and grilled salmon are best to take on its spectrum of rich dark fruit.Tasted: 30 January 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
