Marqués de Riscal Rioja Reserva 2017

Rioja Alavesa, Rioja, SpainMarques de Riscal is a legendary Rioja producer founded in 1858. The Rioja Reserva is a 90/10 blend of tempranillo, graciano/mazuelo hand-harvested from 30 to 40-year-old vines. Over the last decade, the quality of this label has really soared. It was always good but sometimes inconsistent; those days are gone. The wine spends 24 months in American oak barrels, just enough to rein in some of the acidity and lift of the tempranillo and polish its supple tannins. Intense blackberry and floral violets spill from the glass. Milk-fed lamb is the classic Spanish match. Drink or hold, there is no rush.Tasted: 04 November 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
