Stag's Hollow Renaissance Pinot Noir 2020

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom a mix of grapes grown in the Stag’s and Shuttleworth vineyards, this tastes like a grander version of the Stag’s vineyard bottling, but more supple, accessible, complex and intense while retaining the focused fruit element. A delightful mix of cherry, mulberry, marionberry, tobacco, cloves, nutmeg, and gingerbread, this is balanced, rich, intense, and silky, with a spare yet low dark fruit wafer travelling throughout. It’s big in body but not alcohol driven, has absolute flavour clarity, and makes me think of Côte de Nuits. It has power and elegance combined that shows itself in the second half. The clonal mix here is 39% 667, 31% Pommard, and 30% 115, fermented in small 1 ton, open topped fermenters and later pressed directly into French oak barrels (15% new 300L hogsheads). It was aged for 13 months on fine lees before being racked and blended. One hundred cases were produced.Tasted: 10 October 2023Tasted by: Prices:
