Guillaume Vrignaud Chablis Fourchaume Les Côtes de Fontenay 2016

Chablis, Burgundy, FranceThe Vrignaud family, settled in the village of Fontenay-près-Chablis, have been growing vines for 5 generations. Guillaume Vrignaud started to bottle his first wines in 1999, and became certified organic in 2009. They have 28 hectares today. This comes from the Côtes de Fontenay climat, at the entrance of the valley, in Vrignaud's four hectare vineyard in the 1er Cru Fourchaume. The vines were planted in 1955 in brown clay and Kimmeridgian soils. After a native ferment in stainless, this remained there for one year on lees, without bâtonnage. Showing lovely cusping of age, with white honey, anjou pear, lemon drop and lemon pith, and ample limestone buzz lighting this from top to bottom, finishing with ample energy and a lingering salinity. Really lovely, showing well the shade of aged Chablis, and the cut of the cool, north-winded Côtes de Fontenay.Tasted: 21 October 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
