Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2016 Pentâge Blend is a 30/30/17/13/10 mix of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, merlot, cabernet franc, and malbec from a very good vintage. It opens with an expansive nose of red and black fruits, showing some admirable maturity after spending 1.5 years of ageing in new to two year old French and American oak, and another 3.5 years at the winery’s rock cellar in the bottle. It has an intense spicy mulberry and blackcurrant profile running through the wine from front to back. The tannins are mostly resolved to leave a long and supple finish. It is genuinely a drink or cellar proposition.
