Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTake an impressive vintage, 2013, and a flagship blend of 34/23/20/17/6 cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot, age it six years and this is what you get. The nose is intense, almost still youthful, offering ripe red/black fruit with similar follow up on the palate where ripe black cherries and toasted oak mingle effortlessly. The oak is fairly prevalent, in a 2013 American and French oak way (a lot has changed since then in BC). I like the fresh, high-intensity black fruit that permeates the blend and calls for a substantial piece of grilled meat or lamb for maximum enjoyment. Ready to drink, but there is no rush.Tasted: 03 May 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaI admire any winery, no matter how large or how small, that decides to hold wine back until it's ready (or close to) prior to release. This blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, malbec, petit verdot, tempranillo 2013 is current release, as is many of Pentâge's wines. Here dark sweet plum, blackberry jam and black cherry set the stage for this bigger red, well-worn with time and showing that aging very well. Pipe tobacco and worn leather shade the supple wine, while well managed downy tannins house it. A saline rinse on the very finish keeps this lifted at 14 percent. Fantastic value, considering they've done the aging for you and you don't even need to decant before pouring with your steak frites.Tasted: 08 December 2017Tasted by: Prices:
