Meyer Family Vineyards Pinot Noir Micro Cuvée McLean Creek Vineyards 2020

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Meyers call 2020 "the best vintage in recent years compared to the excellent 2016 season." During the long warm days of the fall leading up to harvest, the weather was perfect for ripening, with warm days and cool nights providing a long hang time for the pinot noir blocks to develop flavour and physiological ripeness. The nose is all pinot with a fragrant, pure black cherry with a hint of forest floor and brown spice. The tannins are super soft and inviting, pulling you along the palate with more raspberry and sasparilla. A classy New World version that speaks to Okanagan Falls and its ability to ripen but not over-ripen pinot. A delicious wine you can serve with Beijing duck, seared tuna, pulled pork, or roast quail. The Micro Cuvée pinot always represents the most harmonious blend of select barrels from fruit grown at the estate vineyard McLean Creek Road. Only the purest free-run juice makes it to the barrel. The fermentation begins in stainless steel vessels but finishes in 33 percent new French oak puncheons. It spends 11 months in wood without bâtonnage or stirring. Production was a tiny 110 barrels in 2020.Tasted: 27 August 2022Tasted by: Prices:
